Alsace Wines

In the middle ages, Alsace wines were among the most renowned and expensive wines, in the whole of Europe.

  Adored by tourists from mainland Europe (but for inexplicable reasons all but ignored by British visitors), Alsace is a jewel of a region renowned for its beauty, cuisine, and wines.  Producers of Alsace wines fail to understand why their wines have not achieved a sales break through in the UK.  There are times when it is a relief to select a wine other than Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc, and where better to look than Alsace where Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc and Gewurztraminer thrive in one of the most equitable climates in France.  These wines are very well suited to food, especially Asian, Thai, and spicy foods, and are also delectable served as aperitifs.

I am offering two blended wines, which I import myself directly, as formerly in Alsace winegrowers used to plant some vineyards with a blending of the best vine types.  Biodynamic methods are used and organic conversion is in practice (ECOCERT).

Voyou de Katz – “The devil of the house”(Sylvaner/Riesling/Muscat) 13%abv, Dry white

Gentil de Katz - "The darling of the house" (Pinot Blanc/Tokay-Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer) 12% abv, Medium white. Gentil is also a protected label of the Alsacian wine profession and each production is tasted by a jury each year before selling.
